WXG 2017 is Go! (tickets available!)
WXG, Thursday, 23rd March, 2017, Harbour Hotel Guildford
With Web Expo Guildford (WXG) ticket sales now open, we thought it worth talking about why we’re so excited for this year’s conference.
What is WXG?
If you’re not already familiar with WXG, it’s an annual conference that brings some of the best creative and technical speakers together for a one-day event in (you guessed it!) sunny Guildford.
New WXG Brand!
Check out the new look Event site!
This will be the fifth WXG, and you’ll notice when you visit the new site, that we’ve launched a brand new look and feel for WXG. The new look is befitting of the event celebrating its fifth birthday (we hope you agree!) and that’s not where the changes end either.
We’re proud to say the conference has grown in scale and quality each year. In order to continue this trend, we’ve introduced some changes both behind the scenes and in the format of the event.
Event Partners — Wirehive
This year we’re excited to be working with our friends at Wirehive, to help this year’s event be the biggest and best WXG yet!
Wirehive has an absolutely stellar reputation for their events, particularly as organisers of the Wirehive 100, which has grown into the biggest and best digital awards ceremony in the South.
Event Format and Content — Single Track
WXG has historically operated with dual design and development tracks, with attendees able to choose which of the speakers from each track they were most interested in hearing from. In discussing ways we could improve WXG, we decided that moving to a single track would actually create even more of a buzz around the day, with everyone able to discuss the same speaker sessions and talking points.
With everyone in one room, it not only contributes to the atmosphere on the day, but also means we can attract some big name keynote speakers (hooray!) but more on the speakers later…
Creating a single track event inevitably does have implications in terms of the content for the day, with talks needing to be accessible to all attendees. For this reason we’re focusing thematically this year, looking at some of the biggest trends that will have implications across the full digital landscape.
Venue — The Harbour Hotel
While G-Live had served us well offering dual tracks, we decided it didn’t fit our requirements quite as well as it had previously. We wanted a venue better suited in size for our single track format. The good news is that we’re not moving far, just across the road in fact, to the recently renovated Harbour Hotel.
The Harbour has a fresh new look post-renovation, and we’re excited to be able to use the conference facilities as well as the beautiful new bar and terrace (did I mention the bar?) areas of the hotel for WXG.

In the run up to the conference, our speakers are each providing us with a written Q&A. These are being released each week on our WXG publication here.
What hasn’t changed?
We set up Web Expo Guildford to provide the kind of conference we’d want to go to ourselves, without the prohibitive pricing that can sometimes limit people being able to attend. WXG is not something we run to make a profit, so we hope to just cover the costs of bringing top speakers to Guildford and delivering a brilliant experience on the day. For that reason, we’re proud to have kept our ticket price at £99 (before VAT).
Sponsors
WXG wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible sponsors. This year we have Propel West, and Forrest Brown supporting the cause!
For businesses looking to reach digital agencies and / or brand-side digital teams, WXG offers an excellent opportunity to do just that. We have a range of options available that we’d love to talk you through. Get in touch at info@wxg.co.uk
